Month Milestone Baby Onsies

11 Feb Baby Age by Month Elephant Onsies

Hey there!  I wanted to share with you these adorable onesies that I made for my coworker’s baby shower.   The nursery theme was elephants so I decided to go with that theme for the onesies as well.  I created the elephant shape using my silhouette, colored it in, added some text and printed them out on iron on transfer paper.  I then ironed them on the age appropriate onesie and TA DA!  So absolutely adorable and homemade with love!

Baby Age by Month Elephant Onsies

Here they are in the box ready to go.  The onesies were stored in a plastic shoe sized container which I decorated using  green, blue, black & white vinyl with my silhouette machine.  I wanted to use the baby’s name, but the parents to be were not disclosing the baby’s name, so I just used their last name instead.

As I was creating the month onesies, I got the inspiration to make this one as well.  Both the mama and daddy started work for our company as analysts… so I thought this was be such a  cute gift.  I created the text and overall shape with my silhouette machine, found the clip art online and then printed & ironed it onto a onesie.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the shower, but I heard afterwards that this onesie was a shower highlight.  I still have people come up to me raving about them.  YAY!

If you love these as much as I do but don’t have the time to make them… then visit my etsy shop here and I would love to make you some!  These are a great baby gift to help the new parents document their sweetie’s growing milestones.  I can customize the design and colors to your choosing, personalize with a name or whatever you like!  Just shoot me an email and we can work out the details!

Until next time, friends!

Valentines Day Burlap Banner

23 Jan Valentines Day "Be Mine" Burlap Banner

Valentine’s Day is in the air!  I love seeing everyone’s cute ideas out in blogland on their various Valentine Day projects. So many sweet receipes, crafts and cards to create!   I am a complete girly girl so all the pink hearts, flowers, chocolate and glitter gets me all excited!   I am working on romancing my mantle up a bit and thought the best place to start was with a festive banner.

Valentines Day "Be Mine" Burlap Banner

This “Be Mine” one is my favorite.  I told my Valentine I made it just for him… he rolled his eyes ;)

I had some red and natural colored burlap left over from Christmas so I used that to cut out the pennant shapes, which are strung with a lace trim.   For these with the red glitter letters, I used my silhouette to cut out letters on double-sided adhesive, secured on the burlap, and glittered it up.

 Valentines Day Burlap "Love" Banner

For this banner, instead of using red glitter letters I created a stencil with my silhouette and stenciled the letters in with black paint.

I just LOVE how they all turned out! So cute! I kept one and gave one to each of my sisters.   If you want one, then you can purchase one at my Etsy shop here.

Until next time, friends!

Candy Bouquet

18 Jun candy bouquet

Today I am going to share with you a sweet gift idea that you can make for someone to brighten up their day, a Candy Bouquet!   This goodie could pretty much be used for anything, get well, birthday, graduation, teacher gifts, fathers day… or how about just a sweet way to say Thanks? Whatever the reason, it is sure to bring a smile to the recipient!

Here’s what’cha need:

  • candy! I used miniatures, full size bars, and 4 boxes of candy for the vase
  • skewer sticks
  • foam block
  • tape
  • cardboard juice container
  • ribbon, confetti paper and anything else that you want to use to embellish your bouquet with

Here’s what’cha do:

  • Tape all the candy to the skewer sticks
  • Clean, dry & insert the foam block in your cardboard juice container.  To sweeten up your “vase”  tape the four boxes of candy to the outside of your container.   Tape each corner together, this will help hold it all in.  Don’t worry, we will cover all the tape later with ribbon :)
  • Now just insert your candy sticks into the foam.  Arrange them into an eye pleasing bouquet… I put the bigger candies in first, towards the back of the bouquet and then filled in the rest.  Vary the height and spacing to make it more visually appealing.
  • To finish it off, add some confetti paper to the top of the vase (around the skewers) to hide the foam.  Now tie a pretty ribbon around the vase to help hold it together and pretty it up a bit more.  As if a bouquet of candy needs to be any more pretty than it is!

And there you have it, a sweet treat that is sure to brighten anyone’s day!  Try to be stronger than me though, I was only able to save one Reese’s cup… none of the other’s survived and made it on the bouquet… whoops :)

Embellished Flower Pots

23 May mothersday4

I always associate Mother’s Day with flowers.  I am pretty sure that every year I give my mom flowers or a plant of some sort.  This year was no different!  I embellished regular terra-cotta pots with paint, pictures, stickers and gems and ended up with snazzy pots for my sisters and mom!

First, I painted the pots with a base layer of white, to help the teal paint go on smooth.

While I waited for the paint to dry, I cut out pictures and glued them onto card stock with spray adhesive.

Then, I busted out the mod podge!  I swear when I get started with that stuff I go crazy and try to mod podge everything.  First I put on a white doily and then the pictures.  The pictures were  tacky glued and mod podged onto the pots.

When everything was dry and secure, I embellished the pots more with stickers, gems and ribbon.

I filled my mother’s pot with a Bleeding Heart plant.  I just love those and their pretty heart-shaped flowers.

For my sisters I gave them each a Lilly.  So fragrant and bright!

The embellished flower pots turned out really cute, all of the mothers liked seeing their sweeties on their gift.  Now I just need to make myself one!  Hope you had a great mother’s day!

Burlap Wreath with Ribbon Rosettes

11 May Burlap Wreath with Ribbon Rosettes

If you can’t tell by now, my favorite craft to make are wreaths.  So with the changing season, so does my front door decor.  Here is what I came up with for spring, a Burlap wreath with ribbon rosettes.

I just love it!  The wreath is made out of burlap, satin ribbon and a foam wreath base.

I cut my burlap into strips and wrapped it around the wreath and secured with glue.  Then I rolled up a bunch of rosettes made out of this gorgeous satin ribbon I found at the store.

I just love the vibrant rich colors of the ribbon with the subtle shine of the satin.

The contrast between the fine fabric flowers and the natural rustic burlap is beautiful!

I just love it, it is such a bright and cheerful wreath! Have you made a wreath this year for spring/summer? Link up a picture and show me, I would love to see! :)

Moss Covered Bird’s Nests with Embellished Eggs

11 Apr nest5

A sure sign that spring is in bloom is to be able to hear the lovely songs of the birds.  My toddler is fascinated by birds, she is constantly pointing them out and hearing even the faintest of chirps.  The love of animals and nature is in her blood, her daddy is the most enthusiastic outdoorsman that I have ever met.   To only be 15 months and already trying to call ducks, owls and whippoorwills… well, there is no mistaken where she comes from!

At my sister’s house for our monthly craft date, I started working on my Easter Egg Topiary, but it took me an hour to just decorate three eggs!  One egg has lace and flower embellishments hot glued on, another is covered with sequins and the last one (my favorite) is wrapped in a beaded necklace.   I think they all turned out cute!

My eggs needed a home, so I set out to make a nest.   I used the catch basin of a 1 gallon terra-cotta pot and hot glued moss all over it.  With the moss covering the entire piece, it really looked like a nest, it was the perfect shape!    I think I will make another one to put my Yarn Wrapped Easter Eggs in!

Here is my nest and eggs surrounded by my love birds on my entry way table, along with my Easter Egg Topiary. Welcome spring!

Yarn Wrapped Easter Eggs

4 Apr Yarn Wrapped Eggs

I just love springtime, it has to be my favorite season of the year!   I love all of the fresh blooms, the excitement that the first warm days bring, the sun setting later so we can have more time to play outside… and I especially love all of the spring and Easter decor.   Everything is so happy, bright and new… such a refreshing break from the winter gloom.

I made some Yarn Wrapped Easter Eggs the other night that I wanted to show you.   Aren’t they cute?

This project was a little more time-consuming than I anticipated, but I really like the look of the eggs so it was worth it.  All you will need is some plastic eggs, yarn and glue.  I started by putting a little glue around the egg  (this helped keep the yarn in place so it didn’t slide around everywhere).  Then I just sat back, caught up on my shows  and wrapped the yarn around the eggs until the plastic egg was completely covered.

I still have some green and blue yarn that I want to make more eggs out of.  I think I may put them on a wreath… but if not I am happy with these little beauties sitting in a bowl looking pretty and festive!

Easter Egg Topiary

30 Mar Easter Egg Topiary

I’ve gotten a little behind in my Easter crafts this year, I didn’t even decorate the house yet… I just set out a few things so far.  The baby is teething and belive me when I tell you, this has been a LOOOOOONG week.   I may not have gotten any Easter fun done yet if it wasn’t for my monthly craft date with my wonderful sisters.  Each month one of us takes a turn in hosting our craft day and we get together once a month to craft and gossip.  Usually we don’t finish our crafts that day because we spend so much time running our mouths!  But none the less, I look forward to it each  month… my sisters are my best friends and anytime with them I cherish!

This month my sister Erica hosted.  You can visit Erica at her blog, Tattered Elegance.  Erica’s craft idea this month was to make an Easter Egg topiary.  She provided us with the pot, styrofoam cone, plastic eggs and lots of fun ribbons, decals, supplies for moy and all sorts of other goodies to decorate our eggs.   I spent about an hour decorating 3 eggs when I realized it would take me forever to do enough to make an entire topiary. So I ended up just making a nest out of moss and putting the three eggs in it (this will be my next post!).   When I got home, was when I got busy.

Here is what’cha need:

Styrofoam, flower pot, hot glue, eggs, ribbon, finial  & moss

Here is what’cha do:

First I glued the foam cone into the flower pot, then I hot glued the moss all over the cone.

After the entire cone was covered in moss, then it was time to glue on the mini Robin’s eggs.  I got the eggs from the craft store, I think they were just $1 for about 20 of them.  Basically I just hot glued the eggs all over the topiary.

After the eggs were on, I glued some ribbon around the top of the pot to pretty it up.  I still felt like it was missing something, then it hit me, rosettes.  I can’t seem to do a craft lately without adding rosettes to it.  I am addicted!  So I made about 10 out of the rest of the ribbon that I had.

What tree doesn’t have a beautiful topper?? A ceramic finial was used to decorate the top of my topiary.  And there she is! I love it!

Now I thought my topiary was awesome… that was until I saw my sister’s.  Her’s looks like the “to do” version and makes mine look like the “to NOT” version! LOL!!  Oh well!

It’s funny because when I left her house all she had done was started to paint her eggs, so I thought it was pretty funny that we both kinda had the same vision.  I can’t wait to see what Neely decided to do with hers!   If you make one, send me your link or pics, I would love to see how’s your turned out!

St. Pattys Day Wreath

27 Feb St.Patricks Day Wreat

The days are getting longer and the weather a little warmer, spring is coming! I was a tad dissapointed that we didn’t get a good snowman-building snow this year, but I’m over it and now am ready for the spring blooms and beautiful weather! I have seen so many cute ideas out there in blogland for St.Patrick’s day and decided that this year I would celebrate my Irish side and have some fun with some St.Patty’s day crafts! It was time to dress my door and change from the Valentines Day Wreath. I decided to do a bright, cheery St. Patrick’s Day wreath.

The wreath is wrapped  in lime green satin fabric and overlaped with burlap strips. Various colors of shamrocks  were glued on as well as flowers made of fabric scraps, burlap & felt.

I made a Lucky banner out of burlap pennants and strung it with lime green polka dot ribbon.

Here the wreath is hanging on my front door, bright cheery and welcoming sign for spring and all the fresh green blooms!

Minnie Mouse 1st Birthday Party

22 Feb Birthday Cake

I can’t belive my sweet baby girl turned one! My goodness, this first year just flew by so quick and before I knew it I was planning a 1st birthday party. There was no doubt that the party would be Minnie Mouse, Tilly loves watching Mickey’s Clubhouse and loves to dance to the Hot Dog Song!  So Minnie Mouse it was…Hot pink, polka dots, zebra print & cupcake Minnie Mouse!  <squeal> Yay!

I absolutely adore how the Birthday Banner turned out! Happy Birthday Tilly!

Shiny, shear pink fabric was laid overtop of a white table cloth.  Boxes wrapped with zebra wrapping paper were placed under the tablecloth to create height for the serving dishes.   I decorated the table with candle cupcakes, Mickey Mouse serving dishes, flowers and tissue paper poms.

To create the centerpiece, I spray painted 3 foam balls black and secured them with hot glue & wooden dowels in a hot pink bucket. Flowers & spray pearls were used in the base to hide the foam and hot pink and white polka dot ribbon was wrapped around the dowel and also used to make a bow for Minnie.

Another beautiful and yummy cake from www.cakesbymichelle.net.   The cake we chose was a white cake with buttercream frosting.  Cupcakes dressed in zebra wrappers with pink frosting and sprinkles were also served, but this beauty was just for Tilly to eat.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get any good cake smashing photos because Miss. Priss didn’t like the frosting all over her hands, so she wasn’t really that into eating the cake with all the mess! :)

The favor table held yummy treats for the party guests to take home.  My favorite was the chocolate covered Minnie Oreo pops.  I used regular and mini Oreos to create a mouse head, inserted a stick and dipped in chocolate. The pink bows were created with heart-shaped sprinkles.   We also served cotton candy in black and white polka dot cones. These were super quick to make by folding cardstock into a cone shape and hot gluing it together. So easy and such a cute way to serve treats! :)

Each little Minnie or Mickey got their own pair of felt mouse ears. This project was created by using dollar store headbands (5 for $1!), cardboard, ribbon and black felt.  First you wrap the felt around the headband.  Cut cardboard circles for your ears & cut felt circles just a tad bigger than your cardboard circles. Glue the felt on the cardboard and then glue around headband. For the girls, tie a cute bow and glue in the middle. They loved it, Tilly tries to put hers (they end up being a sideways hat!) on and gets a kick outta me when I put my Minnie ears on!

To cover the table I used a hot pink and white polka dot table cloth and placed some Mickey Mouse head silhouettes on the table.  There was an extra tissue paper pom that ended up on the table as well as fresh flowers and apocothary jars filled with pink frosted animal crackers and pink wrapped truffles.

For the Birthday’s girl’s high chair, I tied little tissue paper pom poms and Minnie Mouse silhouettes on a ribbon and tied it around the high chair tray.  The backdrop is a piece of white netting with a tulle & ribbon bow holding in the center. A special seat just for the birthday princess!

The Birthday girl was so busy all night, so this was probably the best picure I was able to get of her rockin’ outfit! The party was a hit, Tilly loved seeing Minnie Mouse all over the place and adored all the hanging streamers and balloons.

Happy Birthday to my sweet baby girl, Tilly! Love you! xoxo
